Productivity is about mind management, not time management. I’ve been thinking about how this applies to managing your tasks on a day-to-day basis.

I’ve come to realize that as long as you have the proper due dates attached to your tasks, it doesn’t matter what project those todos are for. What matters is your ability to do those tasks in an energy-efficient way.

Genius. As a creative, I find myself wasting so much time bashing my head against the wall for not being able to tap into a flow of ideas. That time and energy could be much better spent walking away, doing tasks that don’t need so much creative power (like laundry or e-mailing my accountant). When I pick the original task back up, I have a clear head and still made progress on my to-do list. Win-win.
