A FRESH START

First and foremost, WELCOME! Get comfortable, have a seat and step into my office. Because that’s what a website really is for a brand, isn’t it?

I will be updating this space every Thursday with different inspirations that get me freaking excited. Read: music, books, podcasts, art, marketing campaigns, travels, and more. A mix of practical, motivational, spiritual and data. Just like me.

After taking a few months to really understand who I am, what I have to offer this world, and what I want to do with it, I am excited to show you a space that feels MINE.

Here’s the story behind how I got here….

If there is one thing in my life I am entirely sure of, it’s that I belong in Italy. From the minute I touched down in Rome’s Fiumicino Airport in 2006 on a high school trip with 50 other girls from my Catholic High School, I just knew. I did everything I could to keep coming back and learn the culture, from a month in Florence to 4 months studying abroad in Milan. In 2011, I ultimately made Milan my home for almost 7 years where I was blessed to work for some truly awesome companies, meet fascinating people, and establish a home base from which I traveled the world.

Sounds like a dream, right? It absolutely was, until it no longer wasn’t. Something in my heart told me I had to go. I’ve always dreamed of living by the beach and it just seemed like Sicily was the place I had to be. I would spend my days looking at photos from my trips to the island and wake up in the middle of the night craving the slow life that you can only find there. If you’ve had the privilege of visiting, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Then one day, I did something many told me was nonsense. I left my permanent job in Milan to move to Mondello, a beach neighborhood 15 mins from the city center of Palermo. I embarked on a journey that, even today over 6 months later, I still don’t know where the final destination is - and that makes it all the more exciting.

This website is the most challenging project I’ve done so far, as it’s often easier to bring out the magic in others and show it off to the world than it is for yourself. I am so excited to share this with you!

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT BY ELENA CIPRIETTI

Elena

Let’s start from 2017, a year of transformation in which I pushed past comfort zone after comfort zone, most of the time white-knuckling it but absolutely elated to see what was awaiting me on the other side. Sometimes I wasn’t sure I was going to make it, but I knew that it was necessary for my to get to where I had to go. I made a major life decision and asked for a sign that would show me that I was going in the right direction. And from that moment, I would see butterflies EVERYWHERE, a symbol that represents growing and blooming. A creature that is seemingly nondescript that breaks out to a stunning beautiful wonder that you can’t take your eyes off. You just want to follow it to its next beautiful destination.

When it came time to naming my company, the choice was right in front of my eyes. Metamorphosis does not happen overnight: big transformations take a lot of time and patience, which is exactly what I teach my clients. It takes courage to go inward to understand who they are and what they have to offer before they can showcase them to the world.

The original symbol was a sketch of the island sliced in half and rearranged in the form of a butterfly, which I asked my friend and designer Giulio Bordonaro to create for me. In a rush to have something online, I threw together a few lines of text and an old headshot on a website to get myself started, but I knew that it was not going to take me where I wanted to go. It wasn’t reflecting my capabilities and my talent, so I sought the help of Angela to help me put all the pieces together and create my new website. Paola made me feel at ease as she snapped photos of me around my favorite spots in Palermo.

I realized that my procrastination was not laziness, but rather a fear of success. I was completely out of alignment, and I had to practice what I preached to my clients about having your website be a reflection of who you really are.

After months and months of work, we took www.elenaciprietti.com to the next level and here we are. Watch this space to see where it’s going. In the meantime, send me an e-mail at ciao@elenaciprietti.com and introduce yourself! I’d love to get to know you.
